#SOL20 Day 16: Not that I’m a Perfectionist

…but I have spent way too many hours combing through and over all of the e-learning resources that I’m posting for my groups.

I want for their experience to be smooth.

I want for them to understand what I’m asking them to do.

I want them to DO it.

And, most importantly, I hope that what I offer allows my loveys to maintain their connection to our class community. I hope that they will see that I miss the PANTS off of them. I hope that they will see that their well-being is, as always, my primary concern.

And now, after fiddling and revising and tweaking and adjusting and checking and rechecking and nitpicking, I am going to release myself from this task. All systems GO.

Ah, who am I kidding? Tomorrow morning I’ll spend another half an hour going through the exact same check…

  1. Your students are lucky that you are so careful to be sure things go well for them! I’m sure your lessons are great! And yes, I miss the pants off of my students too. It’s the strangest feeling.

    1. It is definitely a strange feeling, but I’m just trying to make sure they know I’m there for them. I guess it’s all we can do…

  2. You sound exactly like me when I am writing. I check everything a bazillion times. Perfectionism is exhausting and pointless for I still manage to miss things. Alas! I am sure your e-learning classes will go well and that the kids can feel the love emanating right through their devices. No doubt about it.

    1. Yes, absolutely! I would say that this Slice of Life challenge is helping me release my writing with *slightly* fewer revisions and anxiety. There really is something powerful about letting my writing go.

And…so far the e-Learning launch has gone well. Whew!

  3. I love the writing in this piece–the list of all that you’re hoping to accomplish with your lessons. The paragraph where your love for your students comes through so strongly. The list of all the ways you’ve worked on the plans, and the ending, with the laugh about how hard it is to let it go. Thanks for a fun piece!

    1. Thank you! That is *definitely* the perfectionist in me. Although this Slice of Life challenge is helping me to release my writing with a little bit less anxiety and overwork…
