Slice of Life Day 11: Technically Speaking

There I was, all set to publish a post gushing about the online Slicer meetup we had yesterday evening. What a good time it was! We shared where we were from, how many years we’ve been slicing, what types of writing we really enjoy, and what challenges we’ve faced as writers.

Look at us! All the wisdom and experience here is a MARVEL.

I always have an amazing time interacting with fellow writers online, but the chance to see faces and hear actual voices is a true joy.

But WordPress has decided to be mean.

I haven’t been able to edit WordPress posts on Chrome for almost a year now. Just now, Safari has gone on strike. And to top it all off with a cherry, my Jetpack app isn’t refreshing my draft.

Will this post go up? Will it be doomed to the rabbit holes of back end technology? Time will tell, friends. Time. Will. Tell.

I’LL say…

    1. Thanks! Grateful I had the presence of mind to take it. I had a list of notes of stuff to bring up, talk about, or do, and let’s just say I forgot a couple of things. Glad the photo made it!

  1. Technology! And the little icons they send with the error messages don’t make me

smile, either, even though wrench dude is kind of cool. Thanks for arranging a fun evening for us on the Zoom.

    1. Yeah, Wrench Guy (who sounds like inspiration for another slice) is much better than (spinning) Beach Ball Betty. I’d do anything to avoid her!

  2. So it’s not just me? And what exactly is the relation between wordpress and Jetpack and how does it play out? And why do I have so much trouble simply posting a good link, after nine years of confidence? Argggh. And you are trying much harder tech moves, I know.

But the real-time meet-up was great. Thanks for hosting, Lainie! When you spoke about the year you had to leave the challenge (I had to do that once, too) I was reminded about the very real life commitments and sometime emergencies that have to come before your TWT work. We appreciate all that you do!

    1. Jetpack is actually kind of cool…it’s like a WordPress app, but it works. =))

      Usually.

And…thanks! It was hard to step away last year, but you’re right. As much as I love this online community, I have to remember that I am a flesh-and-blood human person with a whole life that needs living!

  3. I think technology glitches are more frustrating than any worst day of school I’ve had! The meet ups sound fun and you were still able to post-by sharing your glitches. lol

    1. Tech glitches are hard for me because they feel so out-of-control. Honestly, I wasn’t sure this thing would get posted! Figured I’d post twice if need be!
