I’m a fan of the 6-word memoir form. Thanks to Britt, for reminding me how much fun it is to play with! Check out the post that inspired me by clicking this link.
A good day starts with chai
Kid performers make me so proud
Extra plan time? Please and THANKS!
Half days mean a long lunch
Time to plan, time to collaborate
Stick a fork in me. DONE!
Dog snuggles, snack time, mindless TV

This was a good lesson in Smart Brevity, too. I knew the most important things about your day without all the froo-froo!
Thanks! I enjoyed working with this format. And just imagine…what if we could actually get through a day without the froo-froo? I’ll have to settle for keeping it out of my writing.
Oh, I love this format! Thanks for the reminder. I’m gonna tuck this structure in my back pocket for one of “those” writing days. 😉 I’m so glad your day included extra time – what a luxurious commodity.
Thanks! A classroom teacher came to me to let me know that her kids were getting an extra P.E. so they’d miss part of their time with me. So…more plan time for her, too!
Ooh I think I just found my format for tomorrow!!!! These succinct thoughts are perfect.
I can’t wait to read!
I really like this format, as it forces you as a writer to be really thoughtful in your word choice. You also give enough pieces of information that I, as the reader, get a good sense of your day.
Thanks, Heidi! Sometimes I think I do better within a structure than trying to go free-form.
A 6-word comment:
A goodness-filled day and perfect ending!
Oh my gosh, six words rule!
Once I start, I can’t stop.
I become addicted to the form!
I count words over and over.
Someone stop me, I can’t quit.
Six “six words” tie it up
I just love this reply!
I’d hoped for one like this =))
I often some of the meetings I attended would have been conducted with six words and then be done. I think I would have gotten so much more out of them. I need to try this format before the month is up.
Lainie, one of my favorite writing activities with kids used to be (more on that later) the six-word memoir. Love every one of these – a colleague brought me chai one morning this week – it WAS a good day! The form is a great practice in weighing the value of each word.
