Yes,
my house needs to be straightened up.
Yes,
the dog hair dust bunnies accumulate in the corners.
Yes,
the laundry calls.
Yes,
the weather is probably just shy of warm
But
the sun is shining
And
the dog wants to play fetch
And
the day is quiet
And
there’s a cardinal greeting me from the black walnut
So
what choice do I have
But
to sit and soak?

I love this format and how it flows. Lucky you- it’s 29 degrees with flurries here. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful ♥️
Great way to lay the words down. I’m about to head outside too because it is too beautiful for words out there.
And here’s why we get through winters year after year. All those dust bunnies will still be there, and you should definitely soak up some sun. Love the format for the slice.
Lainie,
Yes to all of this. The chores can wait until a cooler day.
It is a reverse Yes day with a but twist.
Dog’s needs must come before dust bunnies. Any sunshiny day demands you spend some time outside enjoying it.
I love the format of the poem, and I feel the same way about the weather outside. I have so much to do, but I made sure to spend some time outside because I need it for my mental health
Dogs in the sun is one of my favorite things in the world.
They can all wait, the sunny moments are temporary, laundry is forever! Enjoy it!
This post just makes me want to say amen. I love the way you’ve structured this and also how reading it I don’t feel alone in my leaving of the dust bunnies for later…
Clearly, you have no choice at all! Be outside! I hope you enjoyed your day in the sun and get another one soon. (Chores are long. Sunny days in March are short!)
There is no other choice, my friend! Sitting and soaking is the order of the day…the thing most needed. As always, I savor the flow of your thoughts, and find myself in complete agreement. The weather here has been so beautiful this week. A colleague and I have been wishing we could work outside…a spirit-lifter for sure, but then, how much work would we accomplish?? Yet I say: Let us seize the day for its own precious self!
