Slice of Life Tuesday: On Power

Been thinking lately about power structures, and how they are often perceived as a zero-sum game. I’m not sure I’m convinced. So today, I let my Flair pens speak for themselves.

This post is part of the weekly Slice of Life challenge from Two Writing Teachers. Check them out!

  1. So often those in power want to keep their power and stop others from getting hold of it. You are willing to share and hand out power which, in my opinion, makes you a more powerful person. Yes, to pass on power you must first have power. There is enough power to share, it is just a shame that there are so many greedy people who want it all for themselves.

    1. Exactly! And sometimes I wonder if people are greedy, or just simply fearful of change and disruption to their status quo. Although yes, some people *are* just greedy…

  2. Those pens have so much to say! A colorful journey of thought through power structures – powerful in itself. That recognition of threat on a cellular level leading one to disrupt the current power structure, to recognizing one HAS power and can empower others – this is mighty, Lainie. I am seeing this cycle through multiple lenses, of daily life, the workplace, students… thank you for this ❤

    1. Thanks, Fran. Yes, I’ve been trying to see this through multiple lenses. So many of the discoveries or big thoughts that I have apply across context. Now if only I can get myself to *remember* to apply them across different contexts, I’ll be golden!
