Poetry Month Day 21: On Opportunity

They say, sometimes,
that when God closes a door
He opens a window

(and yes I know gender is a construct)

but what I really want to say
is that sometimes
when God closes a door
what’s really meant

is for you to stay at home,
look around this place and say
hey
I kind of like this place
maybe I’ll spruce it up a bit

  1. This poem brings a bit of a smile/smirk/eye-squinch to my face (which would be neat to see other people do just based on those four words). I’m a believer who is sometimes a bit skeptical of Divine direction, especially when it matches what a person wants to do anyway. That, and I’ve got some sprucing up to do!
