I would be remiss if I didn’t make today’s Slice of Life blog a photo essay.
Here I am at home, with snow on top of snow on top of snow.
Ordinarily, THAT would be the news of the day. But there is more pressing news! And that is the arrival of this sweet new family member. Ladies, gentlemen, folx…I give you…Lilah.

Was adopting a young puppy right now part of the plan? Nope. ALL the nope. But the opportunity arose, and we took it.
Here’s what I can tell you so far:
1. She is BEYOND cute.
2. My seventeen-year-old is SMITTEN.
3. She’s not a huge fan of crate training, to say the least.
4. She’s vocal about said crate training.
5. She likes podcasts to keep her company.
6. Our other dog, Peep, is…nonplussed but tolerant.
7. We still have no idea what we have gotten ourselves into.
So, that’s today’s post. Cuteness and puppydom. Because our world needs much, much more of both.
Love the idea of a photo essay! I will be adding this to my list for blogging ideas. And the puppy is too cute!
She IS too cute! I think she knows it, too. =)
Definitely – we need more f both. Lilah is adorable. Congratulations on your new family member. As far as snow and ice goes, I have had my fill of it. Bring on Spring!
Thank you! And YES. Spring, please! Next week we’re supposed to get into the 30’s. I might just break out my shorts!
Oh what fun! Happy pandemic puppy! Love all these photos, love that your sweet Lilah “likes podcasts to keep her company” – so funny!
Yes! We discovered it quite by accident. We had a five (turned into 7) hour drive back with her, and she howled in the back with the music, but calmed down with the voices of the podcast. Go figure!
So sweet! I’m sure Lilah will bring love and adventure!
Yes! I’m anticipating LOTS of both!
There is NOTHING like a puppy, and Lailah/Lilah is a gem. What a precious face. Your son and she will be the best of friends, vocal anti-crate training and all. Enjoy all of it —and hopefully you’ve been able to let her explore the snow, or will. Our lab loved the snow!
Oh, this one definitely loves the snow! We actually have to keep her within certain bounds, or she’s going to get lost in snow tunnels on and by our deck!
Oh, yes! More of cuteness and puppydom. I love that snow fall on top of snowfall too. It seems to be a snowfull for you. I certainly see why you had to have a photo essay today.
Thank you! Cuteness and puppydom is also just about all I’m capable of today. Sleep training a puppy – hoo boy.
A photo essay is such a great idea! Thank you for sharing photos of the pup!! Definitely need more of both in the world.
Thank you! It’s been quite wonderful. Except for the nighttime stuff. That can go away. ; )
This is the perfect time for a dog! Any time is perfect! She’s GORGEOUS and will fill your days with such joy (really, the joy outweighs the, you know, other stuff). I love her name; that, too is perfect. And oh my heavens, the snow on top of snow… beautiful to look at but that is a lot to endure. In the house, though – ever so much more warmth. 🙂
Thank you! Yes, LOTS of warmth in the house. I was rewarded yesterday afternoon with a dog who climbed in my lap and promptly fell right asleep. It was sort of like what happens with a sleeping kid. You’re uncomfortable, even in pain in some places, but no WAY are you putting an end to this bliss by shifting or moving!
In a word: savoring. I so know.
Is that the Denver area? Pretty amazing snow for March! The puppy’s black fur next to the white snow is a fun contrast.
Chicago area. =)
